I met up with Bryan Harrill at the shop saturday for a half day of fishing on the South Holston. Bryan is a school teacher visiting the area and wanted to learn a few things about fly fishing. He had gotten a new fly rod as a gift and really wanted to try it out. After suiting up we headed down river and found a good spot and began to work on casting. After just a few minutes Bryan was casting alot better and we began to search out some fish. A missed strike or two later the pulse water had found us so we changed flies and began to really work over a good looking area. On about the 3rd cast Bryan was hooked up with his first ever Flyrod fish and trout! Bryan pulled several more out of the same spot, some really nice colored bows and browns! After a brief trip back to the shop for a cold drink and bathroom break we stayed up river and worked on casting , fly selection and nymph fishing. Bryans casting had come along way, and he had caught several fish on his very first outting! Good job Bryan!
