I was fishing with Jim and Sean, and we had a great day of fishing. Sean caught a really nice 17″ Brown and I caught a hugh 32″ Brown trout.
We had been fishing all morning and had caught a few fish, but nothing special when I walked up to Sean to see how he was doing. He said that we had a big fish sitting out in front of him and we couldnt get it to take. I saw the fish move and it moved across the river from us. Sean told me to cast at it, and see if I could hook it. About six cast later I had the hugh Brown on the end of the line. After a good long fight we got the fish to hand. Now I didnt have a scale with me, but I would say that it is a 14# Brown. After that we caught a few more fish then broke for lunch.
After Lunch we had a good afternoon of fishing. Sean caught some really nice fish including one 17″ Brown. While Jim caught alot of fish nothing big, but alot nice Browns and Rainbows.

The Watauga River has been fishing very well the last few weeks. We have been having hatches of BWO and Caddis coming off. The fish are rising well to the BWO’s during the hatch and feeding heavily on nymphs before the hatch. There are also a few Craneflies and good hatches of Midges coming off.
Fishing nymphs and midges before the hatch is a good idea and dries during the hatch can produce some nice fish.
It is a great time to be on the water.

Sorry guys I know that I have not been putting any reports up I have just been busy and forgot to.
But the fishing on the South Holston has been good. We are still having some Sulphurs come off believe it or not, and the BWO’s are starting to show up more. The fish are feeding on the BWO duns when there is a hatch. They are also feeding on the nymphs and midges when there is not a hatch. If are also feed both on the Surface and sub-surface on midges.
We have been catching some nice fish on both the nymphs and the dries.
